My interest in photography began in 1986 after being introduced to it in a graphics class in high school. The camera felt extremely natural to me and I still have a vivid memory of the first roll of film I shot. I attended the University of British Columbia to study art history and several years later decided to pursue photography. In 2000 I moved to Toronto to have access to a bigger market and began shooting fashion and people. While I wasn't shooting, I found myself drawn to the fantastic food establishments in this city, and particularly ethnic restaurants off the beaten path. I eventually realized that food was a deep passion, and that I had to make it a bigger part of my life. I enrolled in Culinary Arts at Liaison College in Toronto and began working in restaurants while I worked on a food photography portfolio. Almost immediately it became clear from the personal satisfaction I found shooting food, and the feedback of those who saw my work, that this was where I should be working.
